Lauren Cohen
CEO & Founder
Lauren Cohen is an International Lawyer, Realtor & Investment Strategist, best-selling author, keynote speaker, and globally recognized business advisor. Known for her passion and relentless commitment to client success, Lauren leads a harmonized team of experts dedicated to helping entrepreneurs and investors invest, live, work, and play—across borders. A graduate of York University and Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Canada, Lauren is now a dual citizen of Canada and the U.S. She has been featured in Inc., Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, Working Mother, and hundreds of interviews, podcasts, and TV and radio appearances. Lauren also hosts a podcast and a live show.
Lauren’s journey into international law was spawned by a deeply personal experience: her then-husband was deported on the return trip from their honeymoon. Devastated but determined, Lauren turned her pain into purpose, committing her career to helping others avoid such hardships.

Alina Sklar
Attorney & Director of Immigration Strategy and Client Success
Alina Sklar is a Canadian immigration lawyer and Legal Consultant in New York. She was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2016 and is recognized as one of Toronto’s top Canadian immigration practitioners for four consecutive years (2021–2024), as voted by her peers and community.
Alina has joined Investing Across Borders, where her practice focuses exclusively on Canadian immigration law. She provides tailored immigration solutions for individuals, families, and businesses, including temporary work permits, permanent residency applications, family and spousal sponsorships, citizenship matters, humanitarian and compassionate applications, inadmissibility challenges, refugee protection claims, and complex immigration appeals.
Alina served as a part-time professor at Collège Boréal, where she taught legal courses, further reflecting her commitment to legal education. Fluent in English, French, and Russian, Alina is also frequently featured in live TV interviews, radio segments, and print media discussing Canadian immigration and cross-border legal issues.
